Slayyyter hits back at renewed cancel push as voice loss forces Europe date cuts

Pop singer Slayyyter is fighting a fresh drive to drag up her high-school past even as doctors ordered her to scrap Copenhagen and Hamburg shows after she fully lost her voice.

The artist behind the album WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA is having a breakout stretch, with tickets to her first Madison Square Garden date selling out in 15 minutes last week. That success has also brought a familiar online habit: old posts and past work pulled back into view to knock her down.

Stereogum reported that critics have revived old social media posts containing racial slurs and material from her earlier years, including cam-girl work and old talk about sex work. She started releasing music under the Slayyyter name in 2019, apologized at the end of that year, and in January 2020 said she would send proceeds from physical sales to charities supporting the Black LGBTQ+ community.

She is 30 now. On a now-defunct secret Twitter account, she answered the pile-on directly.

She wrote:

"everyone trying to recancel me for highschool things & behavior i dont know how many times i have to say i am not that kind of person anymore and haven't been for over 15 years. i am 30 now. i don't act or say the things i did in highschool,"

Another post targeted the scavenger hunt for dirt.

"the deep digging on cam girl stuff, me in friends vlogs, random old tweets of me talking about sex work etc,. this new found attention is cool and all but its unsettling about having people try to find things to ruin me with. why do you want to see me fail so bad."

Voice collapse, not online noise, halted the dates

While that fight played out, her EU/UK run hit a hard stop for a simpler reason. She told fans her voice was gone and asked the Cologne crowd to help sing so she would not cancel that night, saying she was sick, tired, and anxious but still wanted people to enjoy the show.

On Friday, Oct. 23, she pulled Copenhagen and Hamburg on doctors’ orders. Refunds were set at the point of purchase. The tour was slated to pick back up in Warsaw on the 24th once she could sing again.

Her cancellation notice was plain:

"hey guys, i fully lost my voice and doctors are recommending that i cancel copenhagen and hamburg shows to protect further damage. i'm devastated and wanted to play for you but i just can't deliver a proper show. tour will resume in warsaw on the 24th after i have a chance to regain my voice. i'm so sorry and hope to make it up to you soon. i love you guys so much. refunds will be available at the point of purchase."

The account $ (@WORSTGIRLUSA) pushed back on the idea that she was ducking “the discourse,” posting on October 21, 2026, that voice trouble had already marked the past few shows and that she had performed through tears rather than walk away.

None of that stops the online pattern. A singer sells out a major room, lands in the current pop lane, and the response from a loud corner is to mine teenage posts and old side work for a second public sentencing years after an apology and a charity pledge. Adults can judge past wrongs. Treating high-school garbage as a permanent career veto is how mobs replace standards with endless score-settling.

Growth should count for more than a screenshot from fifteen years ago.
