Country star Miranda Lambert finally admitted she threw moonshine in Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger’s face during a 2010 Nashville bar fight, and said she felt nervous even answering the question.
Lambert, now 42, settled the long-running rumor on the “Popcast” podcast Thursday, confirming the messy late-night scene from her 27th birthday celebration. She did not dodge the central claim.
“I threw moonshine in his face. I did do that,” Lambert said, adding that she was “nervous” to take the question head-on.
The Grammy-winning singer of “Mama’s Broken Heart” described a night that got out of hand fast. Kroeger, she indicated, would not drop the pressure to drink.
According to a 2010 Us Weekly account cited in the fresh retelling, Kroeger kept pushing Lambert to do shots. She refused. An eyewitness said he then told her she “didn’t have to be a b**** about it.”
That remark ended the polite part of the evening. Lambert tossed the moonshine. She said his hair was “wrecked.”
“It was a lot and it was just a late night and no one was in their best state,” she said. On whether things are smooth with Kroeger now, she was blunt: “I don’t know if we’re fine now, but I don’t care.”
Kroeger has never publicly addressed the fight. The podcast appearance finally put Lambert’s own words on the record after years of secondhand chatter.
Blake Shelton, then her fiancé and later her husband, was there. He tried to get involved when the confrontation flared, but people held him back.
Four years after the Nashville incident, Shelton nodded to it in Lambert’s Rolling Stone cover story without naming Kroeger outright. “People always try to pop off or call her bluff at bars,” he said. “One of them I don’t want to say the guy’s name, but he’s the lead singer of a very popular rock band.” He added the clue: “His initials are C.K.”
The couple had gotten engaged in 2010, the same year as the bar melee, and married the following year. They announced their divorce in July 2015. Shelton is now 50.
For years the story lived in tabloid orbit: a country star, a rock frontman, a thrown drink, and talk of a wider scuffle. Lambert did not directly address the separate rumor that she punched Kroeger. She owned the moonshine toss and left the rest alone.
What remains clear is the sequence she confirmed. Birthday night in a Nashville bar. Persistent pressure to drink. A crude remark. A face full of moonshine. A fiancé held back from making it worse. And a rock singer who never offered his side in public.
Lambert’s podcast answer was short, specific, and final enough for her. She threw the drink. She said so. She does not care whether Kroeger is fine with it.
In a business that thrives on fog and denial, a straight admission still cuts through, especially when the other side stays silent.
