Britt Stewart may quit Dancing With the Stars after her Season 35 elimination, with an insider saying the fan favorite feels treated unfairly by the show.
Hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough told viewers that Britt Stewart and partner Taylor Hanson were out on Yacht Rock Night. The pair had just danced a foxtrot and sat among the final three couples still standing.
Stewart, 37, and Hanson, 43, scored 18 out of 30 to the Doobie Brothers’ “What a Fool Believes.” They finished 13th after only three weeks. Stewart looked stunned and emotional as the result landed.
An insider told The U.S. Sun that the longtime pro is now weighing whether she even wants another season. The source said she feels she has faced an uphill battle for years and agrees other pros get better treatment and setups for success.
The ballroom felt tense and raw after the exit, the insider said. Fellow pros told her she does not need the show. Stewart still sees the cast as family and the job as her livelihood, so the decision could go either way. It is still too soon and too fresh for a final call.
Stewart became a full-time Dancing With the Stars pro in Season 29 and was the show’s first Black female pro. She has never reached the finale across seven seasons.
Her best run came in Season 31 with Daniel Durant, the CODA actor she later married in August 2025. They finished fifth in the semifinals. Season 29 with Olympic skater Johnny Weir also reached the semifinals and sixth place.
The rest of the record is early exits. Season 30 with Martin Kove ended first and 15th. Season 32 with NFL star Adrian Peterson ended in Week 4 at 11th. Season 33 with actor Eric Roberts was a Week 3 double elimination at 10th. Season 34 with former NBA player Baron Davis was a Week 2 double elimination at 13th. Season 35 with Hanson matched that 13th-place finish after three weeks.
That pattern is what the insider says has left Stewart feeling the show never truly set her up to win. Other couples still standing when she left were Jackson Olson with Emma Slater and Guillermo Rodriguez with Witney Carson.
Support poured in from the cast and alumni after the result. Jan Ravnik called Stewart one of the best dancers he had ever worked with and said he loved the partnership with Hanson.
Sharna Burgess pushed for Stewart to return next season with a stronger celebrity partner and said the elimination was not on her.
Burgess said:
"That woman is so talented. She’s so deserving and we all know it."
Brandon Armstrong labeled her an elite dancer and elite pro and said he and partner Ciara Miller were gutted. Miller argued the show owed Stewart some form of redemption. Daniella Karagach grew emotional, called Stewart phenomenal, and praised her as a teacher. Ezra Sosa kept it blunt on social media: “I’m so pissed.”
Stewart herself has not issued a public statement in the report. The account of her frustration and possible exit comes through the insider and the reactions around her. She did tell Hanson she was grateful for their time together as the night ended.
Dancing With the Stars keeps handing the same pro a string of short runs while rivals get deeper runs and stronger storylines. Fans notice. So do the people inside the ballroom.
Talent and loyalty still matter to viewers even when a TV machine does not always return the favor.
