Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders move against My Chemical Romance after lookalike gun routine

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders hit My Chemical Romance with a cease-and-desist over lookalikes in squad outfits staging a gun battle, a former cheerleader is weighing in.

OutKick columnist Joe Kinsey reports the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are fuming over what My Chemical Romance did to their brand this week, and that the squad answered with cease-and-desist orders, a restraining order, in his words, after the bit hit the stage.

The stunt was simple and loud. Lookalikes came out in outfits that sure looked like Cowboys cheerleader uniforms and got into a gun battle as part of the show. Concert city and venue were not named in the account. What landed was the brand problem.

Nobody from the real squad was in the number. That point mattered enough that a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader put it in writing.

Stephanie Roberts draws a hard line on who was actually there

Stephanie Roberts danced for the Cowboys cheerleaders from 2015 to 2018. She released a TikTok on Friday night and did not pretend the whole thing was a compliment.

Roberts wrote:

"As a DCC alumni, I have a whole lot of nothing to say..."

She also made the key clarification in her caption:

"Let’s clarify one thing, the actual [Cowboys cheerleaders] were NOT present at this concert,"

That is the whole fight in one line. The uniforms read as DCC. The women in them were not. Kinsey frames the legal push as the cheerleaders protecting what was done to their brand. How a court sees lookalike costumes, introductions, and a gun routine is still open. “We’ll have to see how this plays out in court,” he wrote.

Commenters bet on costumes and introductions, not vibes

Not everyone in the replies treated a lawsuit as a sure thing. A commenter named Colleen, tagged in the column as an amateur lawyer, argued the band’s risk hinged on labeling.

Colleen wrote:

"If they didn’t introduce them as the Dallas cowboy cheerleaders they wont. The costumes are out on the mass market,"

Sabrina made the same bet and tied it to the calendar, noting the country is days away from Halloween and that mass-market cheer outfits are everywhere. Their point was narrow. If the show never called the dancers the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and the clothes are sold to the public, the legal climb gets steeper. Kinsey’s piece does not settle whether the band introduced them that way. It does not quote a filing, a case number, or a full cease-and-desist letter either.

What it does state is the cheerleaders’ move: cease-and-desist pressure aimed at My Chemical Romance over the lookalike gun bit. No injuries, damages figures, or arrests appear in the account. No official statement from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders organization or from the band is quoted there. The public trail, for now, runs through the column, Roberts’ TikTok, and the comment fight over costumes versus brand identity.

A separate photo caption in the same piece shows the real squad working AT&T Stadium during the Cowboys’ Aug. 16, 2025, game against the Baltimore Ravens, a reminder of the product the lookalikes were borrowing from, not a scene from the concert.

Ric Flair’s fall lands in the same news cycle

Kinsey’s column also flagged a scare on the wrestling side. Ric Flair, the Nature Boy, is 77. He had a nasty fall on Friday and turned up on Instagram talking about blood clots in terms that invited a comparison to Jalen Hurts. His daughter put out word that everything will be OK. No full Instagram text is reproduced in the piece, and no hospital report is attached, only the fall, the blood-clot talk, and the family assurance.

That item sits beside the cheerleader fight rather than explaining it. One is a brand-and-stage dispute. The other is an aging legend taking a hard spill. Both broke in the same stretch of days.

Brand value is not a costume aisle. When a famous squad’s look gets drafted into a gunfight gag, the people who built that look get to answer, in letters, in court, or both.
