Two members of K-pop's biggest girl group released competing solo singles and music videos on the same day, the latest sign that Blackpink's four members are building individual careers at full speed.
Lisa, 29, put out "SaWaDiKa" with a music video filmed across her home country of Thailand, while Jisoo, 31, released "Click" with a visual that casts her as a doll bringing an abandoned carnival back to life. Both tracks arrived Friday, Sept. 4, UPI reported.
The simultaneous releases come just days after their bandmate Jennie dropped her solo EP Fallen Angel and a music video for its title track. With three of Blackpink's four members now pushing solo material in rapid succession, the group's individual output has overtaken anything it has done collectively in recent memory.
Lisa's new single features lyrics in both English and Thai, a bilingual choice that ties the track to her roots. The music video was shot in Thailand and includes scenes at Hua Lamphong railway station in Bangkok, the capital's landmark terminal.
"SaWaDiKa" will appear on Lisa's forthcoming EP, Press Play, scheduled for release on October 23. The project follows her 2025 short film for the song "Dream," which featured Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi.
Lisa has kept a visible public profile beyond music. She walked the Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles in September 2025, a crossover moment that underlined her reach outside the K-pop world.
Jisoo's video takes a different route entirely. In it, she portrays a doll who awakens and restores an abandoned carnival to life, a fantasy concept far removed from Lisa's street-level Thai setting. The filming location for Jisoo's video has not been disclosed.
"Click" is set to appear on Jisoo's debut solo album. No release date for that album has been announced, leaving fans to guess at the timeline. At 31, Jisoo is the oldest Blackpink member, and this album will mark her first full-length project as a solo artist.
The pop world in 2026 has been packed with major solo moves. Madonna led the 2026 VMA nominations with 11 nods earlier this cycle, and the broader landscape has rewarded artists willing to step out on their own.
Jennie released Fallen Angel and its accompanying music video the week before Lisa and Jisoo's Friday releases. That means three of Blackpink's four members, Lisa, Jisoo, and Jennie, have all put out new solo material within roughly a week of each other. Only Rosé, the group's fourth member, has no announced solo project in this window.
Blackpink has long operated as both a group act and a collection of individual brands. Each member has pursued solo music, fashion partnerships, and acting work. But the pace of these releases, three members dropping singles and videos in the span of days, is unusually concentrated, even by K-pop standards.
No label information accompanied either Friday release, and neither Lisa nor Jisoo offered public statements about the new tracks. Directors for both music videos remain unnamed.
When four artists can each command global attention on their own, the group's value only grows, something the music industry's gatekeepers would do well to remember.
