Jennifer Lopez already rejected Brett Goldstein romance talk before tabloids circled back

Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein are again the focus of casual-dating claims from Page Six, months after both pushed back hard on the same rumor mill during a “Today” appearance.

USA TODAY reported that the pair are back at the center of dating speculation after Page Six described them as being in a “casual” relationship. Lopez had already shut that storyline down in public.

The recycling is familiar. Costars work together, cameras catch them in the same frame, and the gossip machine treats proximity as proof.

Lopez told “Today” the rumor mill never rests

On June 2, Lopez and Goldstein appeared on “Today” with Savannah Guthrie while promoting their Netflix film “Office Romance.” Guthrie raised the possibility of an offscreen romance. Lopez did not play along.

She told the host the pattern is constant.

"There's never a time when I'm seen with somebody or working with somebody where they don't try to put me with the person,"

Lopez also made the plain point that a rumor “doesn’t make it true.” Goldstein backed the same line with a dry jab at how thin the evidence usually is.

"I think if you stand near her, that's what happened,"

That was the on-camera record. Months later, Page Six revived the “casual” relationship claim anyway. USA TODAY said it reached out to representatives for both actors. The report did not show a fresh on-the-record confirmation answering the newer tabloid item.

Costars, cameras, and a Hoboken shoot

The professional tie is real. Lopez stars in “Office Romance” as airline CEO Jackie Cruz. Goldstein plays lawyer Daniel Blanchflower and co-wrote the movie with Joe Kelly. Ol Parker directed. Netflix released the film in June.

Goldstein has said he and Kelly cooked up the idea because they missed sharp, old-school romantic comedies. On the “Skip Intro” podcast, he recalled them asking who could carry that kind of lead.

"We were like, ‘Who’s the best rom-com actor to do it with?’ We both were like, ‘JLo.’... She’s got industrial levels of charm."

The shoot itself fed the camera frenzy. Goldstein later told USA TODAY, in a September 2025 interview, that filming was a dream, until the outdoor work in Hoboken, New Jersey. Photographers made exterior scenes “a nightmare.” His joke solution was blunt: if they ever make another film together, keep every scene indoors. “There will be no exterior shots.”

That is the machinery behind a lot of these stories. Public work. Public sidewalks. Then a headline that treats the sidewalk like a court filing.

What else the public already knew

Lopez’s recent personal history has stayed in the tabloid lane for years. She filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2024 after two years of marriage. The divorce was finalized in 2025. Their on-and-off relationship stretched more than two decades, with a first engagement in 2002, a split in 2004, a 2021 reunion, and a wedding the following year.

She previously married singer Marc Anthony in 2004. The couple welcomed twins Max and Emme in 2008 and divorced in 2014. The twins are now 18.

Goldstein’s own public timeline is thinner. He has never been married, per the reporting. He previously dated British actress and comedian Beth Rylance and confirmed that relationship during a 2021 Emmys speech when he said, “Beth, I love you.” People has reported they have since split.

None of that personal history converts a costar pairing into a verified romance. It does explain why every joint appearance gets treated like a scoop.

Denial first, speculation again

The sequence is what matters. Lopez and Goldstein answered the romance questions on national television in June. She rejected the premise. He mocked how little it takes to start one. Page Six still pushed a “casual” relationship frame in mid-October 2026.

No filing, no joint statement, and no new on-record yes from either star appears in the available reporting on that later claim. What appears is the usual cycle: shared project, shared photos, renewed copy.

Hollywood gossip does not need a confirmation to run the same story twice. It only needs two famous names and a reason to keep readers clicking.
