Senate Republicans probe cover-up of Biden decline

Washington’s elite knew but stayed silent. Senate Republicans are now gearing up to expose what they call a deliberate cover-up of former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline during his time in office. The truth, they argue, was buried under layers of media spin and loyalist deflection.

Sens. Eric Schmitt and John Cornyn are leading a Senate Judiciary hearing set for June 18 to investigate claims that Biden’s inner circle and the media hid his mental state, as Fox News reports. The probe aims to uncover who knew what and when about the former president’s capacity to lead. It’s the first full congressional committee dive into this controversy.

Schmitt told Fox News Digital, “It’s time to expose how a cadre of Biden aides and family members were the de facto commander in chief.” He is pointing fingers at those closest to Biden, suggesting they ran the show while the president was sidelined. That’s a bold accusation, and it’s about time someone asked who was calling the shots.

Unveiling alleged conspiracy

The hearing will zero in on the roles of Biden’s aides, family, and even media outlets in allegedly concealing his cognitive struggles. Republicans claim this wasn’t just negligence -- it was a calculated effort to mislead the public. If true, it’s a betrayal of trust that demands answers.

Cornyn didn’t mince words, stating, “For this conspiracy… to have hidden the impairment of the president… is unacceptable.” He’s right -- Americans deserve a leader with the mental sharpness to handle the job, not a figurehead propped up by handlers. The Constitution doesn’t vest power in unelected aides.

“The country depended on having a president who has the mental capacity to do the job,” Cornyn added. His words cut to the core: if Biden couldn’t lead, who could? The hearing aims to name names and expose the machinery behind the alleged deception.

House joins fight for transparency

Across the Capitol, House Republicans are pushing their own investigation. Rep. Buddy Carter introduced legislation to form a select committee to probe whether Biden’s health was deliberately hidden from the public. It’s a parallel effort to hold the administration accountable.

House Oversight Committee chair James Comer is demanding that key Biden staffers undergo transcribed interviews. He’s targeting Neera Tanden, Annie Tomasini, Anthony Bernal, Ashley Williams, and Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician. These are the insiders who, Comer suggests, might have orchestrated the cover-up.

The push for answers gained steam after CNN host Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson released their book, Original Sin. The book alleges Biden’s White House tightly controlled the narrative around his health. If aides were scripting the story, the public was left in the dark.

Book spurs GOP's ire

Tapper and Thompson’s claims lit a fire under Republican lawmakers. They argue the book confirms what many suspected: Biden’s allies worked overtime to mask his cognitive decline. It’s a damning narrative that’s hard to ignore.

The Senate hearing, led by Schmitt and Cornyn, will be the first to tackle these allegations head-on. Lawmakers are still lining up witnesses, but the probe promises to be a high-stakes showdown. Expect tough questions and few easy answers.

In the House, Carter’s proposed select committee could amplify the scrutiny. If approved, it would dig deeper into whether Biden’s health was concealed to maintain power. The move signals Republicans aren’t letting this issue fade quietly.

Public deserves truth

Comer’s call for interviews with Biden’s staffers is a direct challenge to the administration’s inner circle. From Tanden’s policy role to O’Connor’s medical oversight, these figures were close to the president. Their silence, Republicans argue, speaks volumes.

The allegations paint a troubling picture: a president unable to lead, surrounded by aides who hid the truth. If proven, it would be a scandal that undermines the very foundation of democratic accountability. Actions, as they say, have consequences.

Senate and House Republicans are united in their demand for clarity. With hearings looming and committees forming, the push to uncover the truth about Biden’s cognitive decline is just beginning. The American people, long fed polished narratives, might finally get the unfiltered story.
