Taxpayer dollars are vanishing faster than a magician’s rabbit in Minnesota, and the Small Business Administration is slamming on the brakes.
The SBA, under Administrator Kelly Loeffler, has announced a complete freeze and clawback of grants to Minnesota following explosive revelations of widespread fraud tied to small businesses, with losses potentially reaching into the billions, as Breitbart reports.
This saga kicked off when YouTuber Nick Shirley dropped a bombshell video exposing questionable dealings at a South Minneapolis facility called the “Quality Learning Center”—complete with a sign that couldn’t even spell “learning” correctly.
Shirley’s footage revealed a center supposedly raking in millions in federal aid for up to 99 children, yet the place looked as deserted as a ghost town. When he approached, an unidentified woman shouted, “Don’t open up,” mistakenly assuming Shirley’s team were immigration agents.
Conservative activist Benny Johnson took to X to amplify the story, noting that Loeffler was “taking immediate action” after Shirley’s team uncovered over $110 million in fraudulent activity in just one day (as reported by Benny Johnson on X). That’s a staggering sum for a single 24-hour sleuthing spree.
Soon after, the SBA dove in and discovered a jaw-dropping half a billion dollars in fraud within mere days of investigating Minnesota’s small business grants. If that’s not a red flag the size of the North Star, what is?
Administrator Loeffler didn’t mince words, pinning much of the blame on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for “refusing to enforce laws governing small businesses and because of his allowance and facilitation of fraud." That’s a serious accusation, suggesting state leadership turned a blind eye while taxpayer money slipped through the cracks.
The scope of this mess, according to the SBA, could stretch into the billions globally, with funds allegedly funneled out of the country.
Reports from City Journal added fuel to the fire, claiming that stolen taxpayer dollars from Minnesota’s Somali community were being wired back to Somalia, with some ending up in the hands of the terror group Al-Shabaab. That’s the kind of twist that turns a fraud story into a national security concern overnight.
The Trump administration isn’t sitting idly by, vowing to go after state officials who, in Loeffler’s words, built an “industrial-scale crime ring to rip off hardworking Americans." If that doesn’t sound like a call to clean house, nothing does.
Rep. Tom Emmer of Minnesota has also stepped into the fray, demanding answers from Gov. Tim Walz after Shirley’s damning video. It’s about time someone in Congress started asking the tough questions.
Meanwhile, the SBA’s decision to freeze all grant funding to the state is a bold move to stop the bleeding of taxpayer dollars. Pending a deeper review, Minnesota’s small businesses—legitimate or not—are left in limbo.
Not every business or community in Minnesota is implicated here, and it’s critical to avoid casting unfair blame. But when half a billion dollars vanishes in days, someone needs to answer for it, and fast.
This isn’t just about numbers on a ledger—it’s about trust. Hardworking Americans deserve to know their tax contributions aren’t funding ghost centers or worse, lining the pockets of terror groups abroad.
Nick Shirley’s investigation has lit a fire under this issue, and with the SBA and federal officials now involved, Minnesota’s grant scandal could be the tip of a much larger iceberg. Let’s hope the truth comes out before more money disappears into thin air.
