Olivia Rodrigo has shared a game show-themed music video for “Expectations” with Chappell Roan, spotlighting their collaboration from Rodrigo’s latest album.

The 23-year-old pop star posted the clip Friday, putting fellow singer Chappell Roan front and center on the track. UPI reported the release under an Oct. 16 dateline.

In the video, Rodrigo and Roan compete on a game-show set while they sing. It is a bright, competitive framing for a song that already sits on Rodrigo’s album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.

That record arrived in June and also carries the singles “Drop Dead,” “The Cure,” and “Stupid Song.” “Expectations” is part of the same project.

Two pop acts, one stage routine

Roan, 28, is not a new name beside Rodrigo. She released her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, in 2023 and has built a sharp live following since.

The pair already shared a bill in August at the all-female Daisy Chain Fields concert. The new video extends that run of joint appearances into a formal studio release.

One lyric Rodrigo delivers in the song draws a hard line on romance and work:

Rodrigo sings:

"I won't settle for a guy with a fake job / They seem so desperate for loving, but baby, I'm not,"

The clip keeps the focus on performance and playful rivalry rather than a long story arc. Viewers get the contest format, the two voices, and the hook.

Album rollout keeps moving

Rodrigo has used the months since the June album drop to push individual tracks into wider view. “Expectations” now has its own visual, with Roan as the featured partner.

Roan’s presence pulls in listeners who found her through the 2023 debut. Rodrigo’s audience gets a guest who already proved she can hold a stage with her.

No separate director credit or label statement appears in the wire account of the release. The public-facing fact is simple: the video is out, the concept is a game show, and both singers perform in it.

For fans who watched them at Daisy Chain Fields, the clip is another marker that the collaboration was not a one-off live moment.

Pop partnerships come and go. The ones that last do the work on record, on stage, and on camera, without waiting for a committee to invent the moment.
