Meghan plans UK charity work as Sussexes seek privacy

Meghan is reportedly preparing a return to British charity work while she and Prince Harry seek privacy as their children settle in.

The Duchess of Sussex is expected to reconnect with Smart Works and support other British causes, though no schedule or full charity list has emerged.

Prince Harry also plans charity engagements, creating a familiar tension for the Sussexes: They want to resume public work while tightly managing media access.

Friends of the couple said their immediate focus was settling Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, before school starts. They also asked that the children’s privacy be respected.

For now, much of the plan rests on unnamed sources. No specific venue, starting date or complete list of Meghan’s planned partners has been disclosed.

Smart Works gives Meghan’s charity return a clear starting point

Meghan began working with Smart Works after marrying Harry in 2018. The charity helps unemployed and vulnerable women prepare for jobs through clothing, interview training and professional contacts.

In 2019, she worked with Jigsaw and John Lewis on a clothing collection tied to that effort. Meghan said that year that women have a responsibility to “support and uplift each other.”

A source close to Meghan now says she hopes to “pick up with a lot of people.” That points toward renewed ties, but it does not explain which groups are involved or what form the work will take.

Meghan is expected to be photographed and receive publicity while working with charities. At first, however, she reportedly intends to keep a low profile.

The Sun also says Meghan avoided cameras after returning to Britain in July. Its account says she had not been seen in the United Kingdom since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral four years earlier.

School shopping shows why the Sussexes want room to settle

An unnamed source quoted by The Sun described the family’s first priorities:

“They are still unpacking at home and getting over the jet lag. They’re buying school uniform and trying to buy pencil cases without being spotted.”

The request for privacy around Archie and Lilibet is reasonable. The open question concerns how the couple will divide private family life from charity work designed for public attention.

Meghan and Harry withdrew from the Royal rota system in 2020. They are now said to be working on a new “fair” structure governing coverage of their engagements and public work.

What that structure means remains unclear. No terms have been released, and the account does not explain who would receive access or how coverage would be managed.

Harry’s charity schedule adds to the couple’s public return

Harry is expected to attend the annual WellChild Awards. He may also conduct a skydive for military charities, though that possibility had not become a confirmed engagement.

He also made a promise to 102-year-old veteran Ed Marshall during a visit to Toronto, Canada, last November. The precise year and further details were not given.

Taken together, the plans suggest a measured return to public charity work. But the details remain thin, and unnamed assurances cannot replace a clear schedule from the couple.

Privacy for children deserves respect. Public work still brings public questions, and straightforward answers remain the soundest way to handle them.
