DOJ launches Russiagate 'strike force' into Obama-era allegations

The Justice Department’s new “strike force” is digging into declassified evidence suggesting Obama-era officials cooked up the Trump-Russia collusion narrative. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s revelations have sparked a firestorm, and the DOJ is now sniffing out potential crimes, as Fox News reports. This isn’t just a fishing expedition -- it’s a long-overdue reckoning.

The DOJ announced Wednesday evening that it is investigating claims that Obama’s national security team, including big names like John Brennan and James Comey, fabricated intelligence to smear Trump in 2016. Gabbard’s declassified documents point to a coordinated effort to paint Trump as a Russian puppet, despite no solid evidence. It’s a scandal that smells like political sabotage.

In July 2016, Brennan briefed Obama and top officials on intel from a Clinton campaign advisor aimed at “vilifying” Trump with Russian interference claims. This juicy tidbit, per Brennan’s notes, shows the plot was hatched early. How convenient for Hillary’s campaign, which funded the now-discredited Steele Dossier.

Clinton-funded dossier fuels conspiracy

The Steele Dossier, bankrolled by Clinton’s campaign and the DNC through Perkins Coie, was a key player in this drama. Declassified records show Brennan pushed to include this dodgy dossier in the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA). That move, a “lessons learned” review later found, trashed intelligence standards and tanked the ICA’s credibility.

The 2017 ICA, rushed and riddled with “procedural anomalies,” claimed Russia wanted to help Trump in 2016. Yet, Gabbard’s documents reveal no direct evidence supported this, and Obama’s “unusual” direction led to “potentially biased” intelligence. Sounds like someone was desperate to spin a narrative.

“The DOJ takes the alleged weaponization of the intelligence community with the utmost seriousness,” Justice Department officials declared. That’s a polite way of saying they’re not buying the Obama team’s excuses. The National Security Division’s involvement signals this probe has teeth.

Brennan, Comey under fire

In July, CIA Director John Ratcliffe sent a criminal referral for Brennan to the FBI, and now FBI Director Kash Patel has opened investigations into both Brennan and Comey. Two sources called their actions a “conspiracy,” opening a Pandora’s box of prosecutorial options. If true, that’s not just sloppy—it’s sinister.

Gabbard’s Monday criminal referral to the DOJ, though tight-lipped on targets, ties to documents naming Obama, Brennan, John Clapper, Susan Rice, John Kerry, Lorretta Lynch, and Andrew McCabe. These heavyweights allegedly laid the groundwork for the Trump-Russia probe in the wake of the 2016 election. It’s a who’s-who of political insiders with a lot to answer for.

“Everything is being reviewed and no serious lead is off the table,” a source familiar with the strike force said. That’s code for: nobody’s safe if the evidence points to fraud or false statements. The DOJ’s teams are already scoping out health care fraud, wire fraud, and more.

Obama’s team denies wrongdoing

Obama’s spokesman Patrick Rodenbush called the claims “ridiculous” and a “weak attempt at distraction.” He insists Russia’s 2016 meddling was real, citing a 2020 Senate report. But that dodge ignores the lack of “empirical evidence” for Trump-Russia collusion, as Clapper admitted in 2017.

“I never saw any direct empirical evidence,” Clapper testified, admitting concerns were based on “anecdotal evidence.” Susan Rice echoed this, saying she didn’t recall “anything smoking.” Their own words undermine the narrative they pushed so hard.

Former AG Lynch, in 2017, claimed she didn’t recall being briefed on collusion evidence. “I can’t say that it existed or not,” she hedged. That’s a fancy way of saying she’s got nothing to back up the witch hunt.

No evidence, just politics?

Obama-era notable Samantha Power, in her House Intelligence Committee interview, admitted she had no hard evidence of Trump-Russia ties. McCabe confessed that the Steele dossier’s accuracy couldn’t be verified. These admissions shred the collusion story’s foundation.

Robert Mueller’s investigation, after all the hoopla, found no criminal coordination between Trump’s campaign and Russia. Yet, Comey still briefed Trump on the dossier in January 2017, with Brennan in the room. Why push a discredited document if not to keep the narrative alive?

Attorney General Pam Bondi has now vowed to “leave no stone unturned to deliver justice.” Her partnership with Gabbard signals a DOJ ready to tackle this mess head-on. The American people deserve answers, not more Beltway cover-ups.
