George Clooney says the Gerber family is still unable to talk about Presley Gerber’s death, calling it one of the most devastating losses they have faced.
The 65-year-old actor opened up in a recent Entertainment Tonight interview about the death of Presley Gerber, the 27-year-old son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. Clooney has long been close to the family and co-founded Casamigos Tequila with Rande.
Presley died Sept. 20 at a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica after reportedly checking into Resolutions Living the day before, Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records show. The cause of death has not been released.
Clooney made plain that the loss is still too raw for public discussion.
He told Entertainment Tonight:
"I don't think we're even in the position of being able to talk about it."
He went further on what the death has meant inside their circle.
"It's one of the most devastating things that's happened to our family,"
And he described the Gerbers’ pain in stark terms:
"And their family is just... as you can imagine, it's the worst thing that could ever happen to a family."
In the days after Presley’s death, George and Amal Clooney were spotted arriving at Kaia Gerber’s home in Los Angeles. The visit fit a longer pattern of private support.
Sources who spoke with the Daily Mail said Clooney stayed close to Presley for years and often checked in. One source said George would spend hours talking to him. Another called Clooney “the nicest guy in the world” and said he would do anything to help Rande’s family.
That support went back at least to 2018, when Presley got a DUI. Sources said Clooney advised him not to take that path and to be careful. More recently, he sent notes telling Presley he was there for him.
Months before his death, Presley posted on Instagram about preparing for an “ibogaine flood dose” at a wellness clinic in Cancún, Mexico. He wrote that he felt “absolutely terrified,” that letting go of control did not come easy, and that he believed something bigger than himself was guiding the process.
In the same post he said he knew why he was there, faced what he had been running from, and started finding his way back to himself. He also wrote that he was praying it would be the last time he needed to return for treatment.
Those public words now sit beside a still-open gap. Records confirm where and when he died. They do not yet state how. Fox News coverage has noted an ongoing probe tied to the rehab facility death, but no official cause has been made public.
Even famous friends, deep pockets, and repeated tries at treatment cannot always stop a family from facing the worst night of their lives.
