Chuck Lorre hopes for Trump’s death and smears Melania as an ‘escort’ at charity gala

Chuck Lorre used a charity award speech to wish death on President Trump and call Melania Trump a “Yugoslavian escort”, and the Los Angeles crowd cheered.

Breitbart News reported that the Big Bang Theory creator and CBS producer turned a Project Angel Food award acceptance into a crude political monologue last week in Los Angeles.

Lorre was honored for financial contributions to the charity, which serves people in need. Instead of sticking to gratitude, he told the room he had “no choice” but to attack the president and the first lady, and the audience responded with cheers.

The remarks, later flagged by NewsBusters, mixed personal insults, a death wish framed as a morning routine, and a recycled Epstein smear. They also fit a longer pattern of Lorre’s public shots at Trump.

He framed cruelty as a comedy writer’s duty

Lorre opened by casting the attack as professional obligation rather than choice.

He told the gala crowd:

“The burden of my profession demands that I take this opportunity to say a few words about that bloated orange piece of s*** in the White House.”

After reading the room, he added, “Okay, I do have the right audience.”

He then claimed he would have preferred to thank the people who built Project Angel Food into “an oasis for those in need.” But he said being a comedy writer forced a different script, one that started with hoping the president was dead.

“I’d love to express my gratitude to all the people who’ve devoted their lives to making Project Angel Food an oasis for those in need. That would be my preference. But because I’m a comedy writer, I have no choice but to explain how I wake up every morning, turn on CNN to see if the President of the United States had a heart attack while straining to take a dump.”

Melania was next, labeled an “escort” and stacked against Michelle Obama

Lorre pivoted from the president to the first lady with a side-by-side insult built for applause.

“I’d love to encourage you to pull out your wallets and contribute to this amazing organization, but my need to cause laughter forces me to question how a country can embrace a smart, educated, warm, funny First Lady like Michelle Obama then somehow be okay with a surgically enhanced, cold-hearted Yugoslavian escort who clearly hates her husband.”

He closed by twisting a prayer into another round of abuse and a conspiracy claim.

“God, grant me the serenity to no longer give a s*** about all the stupid people in this country. The courage to say Donald Trump is a Russian asset who traded teenagers with Jeffrey Epstein, and the wisdom to end on a cheap laugh. Thank you very much.”

The crowd cheered. A charity night for the vulnerable became a stage for celebrity contempt aimed at the president and first lady.

This was not a one-off rant

Lorre has gone after Trump before. In 2019, Breitbart News reported he floated claims that the president might have syphilis or brain damage from birth.

Last October, the then-66-year-old producer put out a message branding Trump “a fascist, hate-filled, fear-mongering, demagogic, truth-shattering, autocratic golf cheater.” He also fantasized about “a little Old Testament wrath” landing on him.

The Los Angeles speech did not break new ground. It repeated the same habit: use a public platform, skip the substance, and reach for the lowest available punch line.

A charity podium became a partisan prop

Project Angel Food exists to help people who are sick and hungry. Lorre accepted recognition for supporting that work. Then he told donors he would rather talk about a hoped-for heart attack and call the first lady an escort than make a clean appeal for the mission.

He named CNN as his morning check-in. He name-checked Michelle Obama as the approved model. He dropped Jeffrey Epstein into the closer as if a gala toast were a filing. None of it was required by the award. He chose it.

Hollywood still sells itself as compassionate while treating half the country, and the country’s first lady, as fair game for the cheapest lines in the room. The cheers only made the gap clearer.

When a charity stage is used to wish death on a president and degrade a first lady for sport, the mask slips: the cause was never the point, the sneer was.
