Selma Blair’s boyfriend issued a public prayer plea after the actress allegedly assaulted flight attendants midair, leaving crew injured while she faces serious prison time.
Andy Kiernan took to Instagram Stories on Tuesday and asked followers to pray for the 54-year-old actress and her 15-year-old son after a chaotic Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York ended in injuries, police involvement, and criminal charges.
Page Six reported that the on-again, off-again boyfriend framed Blair as someone who still needs help, even as the people who work the cabin paid the price for the outburst.
Blair, known for roles in “Legally Blonde,” “Cruel Intentions,” and “Hellboy,” was traveling Sunday on a Delta flight from LAX to JFK when she became physically disruptive. Flight attendants restrained her. The pilot called ahead for medical help and law enforcement, describing an “abusive” passenger who had injured several people.
In 911 audio obtained by TMZ and detailed in coverage of the incident, the pilot made the damage plain.
“A bloody nose as well as some bite marks,”
he said, then asked for medical personnel at the JFK gates for the crew involved.
Breitbart reported that Blair allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another while trying to open a plane door in midair. Two attendants were injured, and one was hospitalized. Police took her into custody on arrival at JFK. The FBI is investigating the onboard assault.
The trouble did not stop at the gate. On the way to a medical facility, Blair kicked a police officer. At the facility, she assaulted a nurse. She was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, entered a not guilty plea on Monday, and faces two to seven years in prison if convicted.
Blair’s representative called the episode a medical emergency and said she is in stable condition after treatment.
“Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”
Attorney Shawn Barnes pointed to missed multiple sclerosis medication, a fall in which she hit her head, and boarding after “extensive hours and exhaustive hours” on set in the days before the trip. Coverage also noted a prior 2016 flight disturbance tied to medication mixed with alcohol.
Delta drew a bright line. The airline said it has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior and that the safety of customers and crew comes first. That is the baseline every passenger is supposed to meet, celebrity or not.
Kiernan, a businessman who began dating Blair in 2024, cast the story as a cry for help rather than a case about people who got hurt doing their jobs.
“Pray for Selma. She has a good heart. She hasn’t yet got the help she needs. Pray that she does. She’s a human being like the rest of us.”
He also asked the public to pray for her son Arthur. Page Six sought comment from Kiernan and did not immediately hear back.
Prayer is free. Accountability is not. Flight attendants finished a cross-country shift with bite marks and a bloody nose. An officer and a nurse were attacked after the plane landed. Working people do not get to rewrite that record with a medical press statement and a soft Instagram appeal.
When a famous passenger injures the crew, the law should treat her like anyone else who threw punches at 30,000 feet.
