Comedian Amy Schumer and chef Chris Fischer have officially divorced in New York after settling their case, ending a seven-year marriage she announced last December as a difficult decision focused on their son.
Page Six reported that Schumer and Fischer settled the divorce and that the New York Supreme Court case status is listed as disposed, meaning the split is complete.
The pair submitted a proposed divorce judgment and orders covering support for their 7-year-old son, Gene. Exact terms stay private. Divorce cases are sealed in New York, so the finalization date itself is not public in the usual way.
Schumer, 45, filed in January after confirming the separation on social media the month before. Fischer, 46, is the chef she married in 2018. Their son was born in 2019.
In a December 2025 Instagram post, Schumer put the decision in plain terms and asked for space.
She wrote on Instagram:
"Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time."
A follow-up post pushed back on chatter that weight loss or dating prospects drove the break. She framed the end as amicable and rooted in family.
Schumer posted:
"Blah blah blah not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag a basket and not because he’s a hot Janlmes beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever."
Earlier in December she had already tried to kill related speculation. “Whatever ends up happening with me and Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism,” she wrote, before the formal split confirmation.
At the time of the separation, a source told the Daily Mail the break had been “a long time coming,” with talk of Schumer putting energy into her career and motherhood. That claim came from an unnamed source and stands as reported color, not a court finding.
Schumer, known for films including “Trainwreck” and “I Feel Pretty,” secretly married Fischer in 2018. Gene arrived the next year. By the time she filed, the marriage had run seven years.
One older detail still follows them in coverage. In 2021, Fischer gave Schumer a 40th birthday cake with a message that read, “I’m leaving you. This was the only way I could think to do it.” It was treated as a joke at the time. It is not presented as the cause of the later filing.
On Sept. 25, Page Six reported the couple was nearing the end of proceedings after the proposed judgment and support orders went to the court. The later disposed status closes that chapter on the public docket, even with the file sealed.
What the record does show is limited and practical: a settled case, support orders for Gene, and no open courtroom drama for the public to parse. What it does not show are the private terms, the docket number, or a blow-by-blow of who sought what.
Schumer’s own words remain the clearest on-record account of motive she chose to give: a hard decision after seven years, love still claimed on both sides, and a priority on raising their son without a media circus.
Hollywood splits often become content. This one ends with a sealed New York file and two parents on the record saying the boy comes first.
