The legendary soft rock duo Air Supply and co-headliners Little River Band saw their upcoming Fresno concert scrapped by organizers just 48 hours before the curtain was set to rise, and nobody has said why.
The Save Mart Center in Fresno announced the cancellation on its official Instagram account Tuesday, telling fans the show scheduled for Thursday had been called off "by the event organizer." The venue offered no reason for pulling the plug and did not identify the organizer responsible for the decision. Ticketholders were directed to a refund page and told credit card purchases would be returned within 14 to 21 days.
That two-sentence Instagram post was the only public statement from anyone involved. Neither Air Supply nor Little River Band has addressed the cancellation, leaving fans to speculate in the comments section beneath the venue's announcement.
The timing raised eyebrows. Air Supply had performed just days before at the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana in Gary as part of the duo's "A Matter of Time" tour. That Sunday show went ahead without any reported problems, making the abrupt Fresno cancellation all the more puzzling.
The New York Post reported the cancellation but noted that no official explanation had been offered by the venue, the bands, or the unnamed event organizer. Whether the decision stemmed from poor ticket sales, scheduling conflicts, health concerns, or something else entirely remains unknown.
Anonymous commenters on the venue's Instagram post offered their own theories. One wrote that "there was no way they were going to sell that many tickets," claiming the act "couldnt sell out half the show at the casino last year." Another simply mused, "Time passes us all!" Neither claim has been verified by any named source.
Air Supply, formed in 1975, built a massive following through the late 1970s and 1980s with hits like "Lost in Love" and "The One That You Love," the latter reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The duo has continued touring for decades, drawing audiences who grew up on their catalog of ballads and soft rock singles.
Little River Band, also formed in 1975, charted its own string of hits during the same era. "Reminiscing" climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard charts, and "Lonesome Loser" reached No. 6. The group originally featured six members but now tours as a five-piece, none of whom are from the original lineup.
For fans who bought tickets expecting a night of nostalgia, the abrupt cancellation left them with a refund process instead. The Save Mart Center's posted refund policy states that tickets will be returned at the original point of purchase. Credit card holders can expect to see the money back in their accounts within two to three weeks.
Several basic questions remain unanswered. Who, exactly, is the "event organizer" that canceled the show? Why did they wait until two days before the performance? Were other tour dates affected? How many tickets had actually been sold? None of these details have been disclosed by anyone connected to the event.
