Despite an imminent change of professional scenery, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is slamming the brakes on whispers of a 2028 White House run with the kind of gusto that could power a Trump rally, as the New York Post reports.

Greene, who recently announced her resignation from Congress effective Jan. 5, found herself at the center of a media storm over the weekend when a report suggested she’s eyeing a presidential campaign, only to forcefully shut down the speculation on social media.

First, let’s rewind to Friday night, when Greene dropped the bombshell of her resignation, a move that’s left the Republican House majority -- currently a razor-thin 219-213 with three vacancies -- teetering on the edge.

Resignation Shocks GOP Amid Tensions

A House GOP aide didn’t mince words, calling Greene’s exit a “vindictive” attempt to weaken the Republican hold on the chamber, even pointing out that she’s stepping away before former Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who also recently declared she won’t seek another term.

Before her resignation news even settled, Greene was clashing with President Trump over the release of Justice Department files tied to the late Jeffrey Epstein. It's a controversy that led Trump to pull his endorsement for her next House term.

Trump didn’t hold back, branding Greene as “wacky” and a “lunatic,” a jab that underscores the growing rift between the two once-stalwart allies in the fight for conservative values.

Trump and Greene Clash in Public

Then came Saturday, when a TIME magazine report stirred the pot, claiming Greene had privately floated the idea of a 2028 presidential run to close associates, citing multiple sources familiar with her supposed plans.

Greene wasn’t having it, taking to social media on Sunday to torch the story as pure fabrication, leaving no room for doubt about her stance on the rumor mill.

“[T]his is a complete lie and they made it up because they can’t even quote the names of the people who they claim said it,” Greene fired back, calling out what she sees as shoddy journalism with a side of agenda-driven nonsense.

Greene Slams Media Over False Claims

She didn’t stop there, doubling down on why a presidential bid isn’t in her cards, painting a grim picture of the grueling process that she argues leads nowhere in a broken system.

“Running for President requires traveling all over the country, begging for donations all day everyday [sic] to raise hundreds of millions of dollars, arguing political talking points everyday [sic] to the point of exhaustion, destroying your health and having no personal life in order to attempt to get enough votes to become President all to go to work into a system that refuses to fix any of America’s problems,” Greene declared.

“The fact that I’d have to go through all that but would be totally blocked from truly fixing anything is exactly why I would never do it,” she added, a blunt assessment that resonates with anyone skeptical of the political machine’s ability to deliver real change.

Political Machine Under Fire

Greene’s frustration with the system isn’t just talk. It’s a sentiment shared by many conservatives who feel the deck is stacked against genuine reform, especially when progressive agendas seem to dominate the narrative.

Her resignation, coupled with the spat over the Epstein files and the now-debunked presidential rumors, paints a picture of a party at a crossroads, grappling with internal divisions even as it holds a fragile majority.

While Greene’s exit may sting the GOP’s numbers game, her unapologetic stand against what she sees as media lies and political futility might just rally the base that’s tired of the same old Washington song and dance.
