A bombshell FBI document has just surfaced, pointing to a shadowy payment scheme involving none other than former President Bill Clinton.
A 2017 FBI report, recently made public by Sen. Chuck Grassley, ties Clinton to a questionable financial arrangement through a consulting firm with links to Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, raising serious concerns about whether federal investigators gave this the attention it deserved, as Just the News reports.
Let’s rewind to the origins of this tangled web, where the FBI was digging into McAuliffe’s business dealings before he took office as governor in 2014.
During that probe, agents stumbled upon evidence suggesting Clinton was receiving payments through a backdoor setup, funneled via Teneo, a firm closely connected to both Bill and Hillary Clinton.
The investigation wasn’t just a fishing expedition -- McAuliffe’s legal team admitted the FBI was looking into potential violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, a law meant to keep foreign influence in check.
Now, enter Doug Band, a longtime Clinton ally who served as a deputy assistant during Clinton’s presidency and stuck around to manage his post-White House ventures.
Band, who owns Teneo, reportedly used the firm as a conduit to channel money to Clinton, according to a case update drafted by then-Supervisory Special Agent Tim Thibault.
“McAuliffe case -- Steven Sullivan, Chief Financial Officer of Teneo was interviewed in New York City. Info provided seemed to confirm, Teneo was used as a pass through for Doug Band to pay former President of the United States,” Thibault noted in the document.
Well, isn’t that convenient? If true, this setup smells like a clever way to dodge transparency, and it’s no surprise conservatives are asking if the FBI played favorites here.
Sen. Grassley, an Iowa Republican and member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, dropped this bombshell document on Tuesday, courtesy of a whistleblower who felt the public deserved to know.
“Did the FBI throw its resources behind this matter just like it did against Trump and his associates? Or did they sweep it all under the rug?” Grassley pressed during a hearing with Attorney General Pam Bondi.
That’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? If the FBI went easy on this while hammering others, it only fuels the argument that the justice system picks and chooses its battles based on political affiliation.
Band’s role isn’t just a footnote -- he’s been a central figure in Clinton’s world, helping establish the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Global Initiative, while reportedly pushing Teneo clients to donate to the foundation.
Adding fuel to the fire, a leaked memo once revealed Band’s aggressive push for Clinton’s paid speeches and consulting gigs, even while Hillary Clinton served as secretary of State under President Obama -- a move that has long drawn Republican scrutiny.
Meanwhile, McAuliffe, a heavyweight fundraiser for Clinton during his presidency, seems to be at the nexus of this mess, with his own business ties drawing FBI attention years ago. It’s hard not to wonder if political clout shielded some players here from the full weight of accountability. After all, when the same names keep popping up in questionable deals, it’s not just a coincidence -- it’s a pattern worth investigating.
