Callum Turner and Jack Lowden are among a short list of actors screen-testing in London this weekend for the next James Bond, as Amazon MGM moves to crown a successor to Daniel Craig.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that a select group of actors is getting in front of cameras in London for the role of British agent 007, with tests that could begin as early as Friday.
Several sources put Turner and Lowden in the mix. Sources said at least three actors are part of the action. Another source said up to five may be testing.
The process is understood to be comprehensive. The tests cover three components: stunts, camera presence, and dialogue.
Callum Turner, who recently starred in the rom-com One Night Only, is among those said to be testing. Jack Lowden, known for Slow Horses, is also in the mix, according to several sources.
Jack O’Connell, who appeared in Sinners, was rumored to be in the running at first. Sources now say that is apparently not the case. Jacob Elordi, the Euphoria and Frankenstein star, is not testing despite some reports.
Who else may step in front of the cameras remains unclear. The reporting names Turner and Lowden; it does not lock down the full slate.
Denis Villeneuve, the Dune filmmaker, is directing the new Bond outing. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing and overseeing the franchise for Amazon MGM Studios.
Amazon MGM Studios bought out the creative rights from the Broccoli family in February 2025. That ended a long family stewardship of the character’s screen life and put a major studio brand in charge of one of film’s most watched roles.
Amazon had no fresh comment on the London tests and pointed back to its earlier statement on the search.
Amazon said:
"The search for the next James Bond is underway. While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right."
Twenty years ago, Bond tests included full hair and makeup and a full camera and sound crew on a set. Henry Cavill was among those vying for the role. Daniel Craig emerged victorious.
Craig played Bond from 2006’s Casino Royale through 2021’s No Time to Die. The London tests now aim to find the face that follows that run.
Exact start times and the specific venue were not reported. The number of actors still sits in a range, at least three, and possibly as many as five. The studio is keeping names and outcomes close while the cameras roll.
Bond has always been larger than any single studio memo. The man who wins the test still has to prove he can carry the standard.
