Former Army sniper Nick Betts claims elite U.S. troops killed three reptilian creatures near Area 51 after a soldier died underground, a story officials have never verified.

Nick Betts, a former U.S. Army sniper who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, says an unnamed Joint Special Operations Command member described a secret emergency mission near Area 51 in which soldiers hunted bipedal, mildly reptilian-looking beings inside a deep underground facility.

Betts shared the secondhand account with Navy SEAL co-hosts Kevin Kent and Ryan Williams and later discussed it on a December 2025 podcast episode. He says he heard the tale during a night of drinking while working on a Ukraine war documentary in Poland sometime after 2022. The U.S. military and the White House have long maintained there is no physical evidence that UFOs or extraterrestrials exist.

Daily Mail reporting lays out Betts’s retelling in detail. Absolute dates for the alleged Nevada mission, the name of the soldier said to have died, and the identities of the JSOC members remain undisclosed.

Betts says a six-man team entered tunnels miles from Area 51

According to Betts, military officials at Fort Bragg in North Carolina summoned a small JSOC special missions unit for an emergency after an underground site a few miles from Area 51 stopped making regular radio checks and a quick-reaction force failed to return.

The team of about six soldiers was briefed at Area 51 and given high-tech energy weapons, Betts claims. They flew by Black Hawk to a tunnel entry, then moved through a base he said featured biometric handprint readers, iris scanners, and glass access points that reminded him of a Hollywood set.

Betts recounted the description this way:

"It was, you know, almost looked like "Independence Day," where they have the glass windows and things like that and access points with full handprints and biometrics and then also an iris reader,"

He says the source told him the facility looked more advanced than even the most secure levels of the Pentagon.

One soldier allegedly died before the team killed three creatures

Betts says the sweep turned deadly. As the team moved around an outer section, the man on the outside left was hit in the chest by one of the creatures’ directed-energy weapons and died at once.

He put it in blunt terms on the podcast:

"As they're coming around on this outside, the outside left guy gets f***ing hosed with one of the guns that they're using like straight to the chest and f***ing dies,"

The remaining soldiers then killed all three of the bipedal, mildly reptilian-looking beings, which Betts said had fingers and were using weapon systems of their own. He relayed the source’s words:

"They said that they f***ing shot this creature that was bipedal, mildly reptilian-looking but had fingers and was using this weapon system,"

Betts claims the dead American soldier’s remains were cremated on site over the team’s protest. The cover story, he says, was that the man died in a training accident that incinerated his body. Survivors were taken to sign documents, possibly non-disclosure agreements, and underwent biometric scanning of their hands and eyes. The killed soldier held Catholic beliefs, per Betts’s account. No name for that service member appears in the available reporting.

A 6 a.m. warning ended the conversation

Betts says he might have dismissed the whole story as drunken talk if not for what happened the next morning. A second JSOC soldier, allegedly on the same mission and not present in the hotel room the night before, confronted him at 6 a.m.

Betts described the moment:

"I'm like, 'Hey, so and so told me you know a thing or two about aliens.' Dude, he f***ing stops, turns me, grabs me by the f***ing neck, and f***ing slams me up against the wall,"

He added that the man told him, “Nick, I f***ing swear to God. Never f***ing talk about this again.” Betts says his documentary role was cancelled after he asked about the incident, and the two soldiers never spoke with him again.

On the podcast he summed up why he took it seriously:

"I would have chalked it up to the wine if it wasn't for being choke slammed up against a f***ing wall in the morning at 6am,"

Area 51 secrecy keeps extraordinary claims alive

Area 51 sits inside the vast Nevada Test and Training Range, described as more than 2.9 million acres, and has been tied to secret aircraft and UFO lore since the 1940s. Reptilian theories gained wider pop-culture reach in the late 20th century through figures such as David Icke. The same reporting notes that government whistleblowers including astrophysicist Dr. Eric Davis and retired Air Force Maj. David Grusch have alleged multiple non-human species, including Reptilians, claims that remain unproven in public records.

Betts’s story is secondhand. It rests on an unnamed source, an unnamed second soldier, an unnamed dead American, no mission date, and no released documents. Official Washington’s public line is unchanged: no physical evidence of extraterrestrials.

Taxpayers fund black sites and special operations they are not allowed to see. When the only public version of a deadly underground fight is a podcast yarn with no names, no dates, and no records, skepticism is not closed-mindedness, it is basic accountability.
