Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank announced she is pregnant with her third child at 52, more than three years after welcoming twins with husband Philip Schneider.
Swank shared the news in a creative social media video on Wednesday, using glowing stick figures to tell fans the family is growing again. The post hinted at a December arrival and arrived more than three years after she and Schneider welcomed twins Aya and Ohm in April 2023.
The U.S. Sun reported that the short clip showed three stick figures dancing to Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s “Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” then a fourth figure joining with a tiny baby attached to the belly.
Her caption kept the tone light and clear.
"A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next, this one releases in December,"
That is the full public reveal so far. No medical details, exact due date, or child’s sex were released beyond the December hint.
Swank and Schneider married in August 2018 at an outdoor ceremony at the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California. Nearly five years later, they became parents of twins.
She first announced that pregnancy in an October 2022 interview on Good Morning America. At the time she was open about how long she had wanted children.
"This is something that I’ve been wanting for a long time and my next thing is I’m gonna be a mom."
She added that it would not be one child, but two.
"And not just of one but of two."
She called the twins “such a blessing,” “a total miracle,” and “unbelievable.”
The path to parenthood was not quick. Swank froze her eggs at 37 and used them about a decade later. She became a mother at 48. After the twins arrived, she appeared on the cover of Women’s Health magazine and talked about life as a later-in-life parent.
In that magazine conversation, Swank did not claim she planned to wait until her late 40s. She said the timing still felt right.
"I would have had kids earlier. I’m not saying I actively waited until 47. But that was a magical time in my life, when it all culminated. It was the right time for myriad reasons."
She also said she is a different parent now than she would have been earlier.
"I’m a very different parent than I would’ve been, even in my early 40s, I’m much more patient. I’m much more understanding," she said. She described being freer to focus on her children because her career was already established, and said she is “fascinated about what makes them tick.”
Swank, now 52, built that career the hard way. She won Academy Awards for “Boys Don’t Cry” and “Million Dollar Baby,” roles that made her a household name long before she became a mother. The public record of those wins is settled; the new chapter is the family she is still building with Schneider.
Wednesday’s stick-figure video was short on medical detail and long on warmth. Three glowing figures danced. A fourth joined with a baby on the way. The message was simple: another child is coming in December.
In a culture that often treats family as optional or secondary, Swank’s latest chapter is a plain reminder that children remain a blessing worth planning for, waiting for, and celebrating out loud.
