Banana the corgi blasted to a halftime win at the Seahawks-Chargers game and looked back like Usain Bolt, leaving NFL fans in stitches online.
Three corgis lined up at the 50-yard line during halftime of Seattle’s Week 4 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers and tore toward the end zone. One dog named Banana shot out front, held a clear lead, and glanced back at the other two before crossing the finish line.
The Sun reported that the Seahawks named Banana the 2026 Corgi Cup Champion and handed the winner a massive trophy as the crowd soaked up the mid-game show.
Seattle then closed out the real contest on the field, beating the Chargers 30-23. For many watching at home, though, the short dogs were the clip that stuck.
The race itself was simple. Three dogs. Fifty-yard line to the end zone. No fancy rules spelled out beyond the dash.
Banana did not ease into it. The corgi blasted to the front early, stretched the lead, and still found time for that look over the shoulder before the finish. Fans on social media zeroed in on the glance right away.
One commenter wrote:
"The way he did the USAIN BOLT LOOK BACK TOO,"
Another piled on:
"Banana was running like he had somewhere to be,"
A third kept it blunt:
"Banana is a menace,"
And one more captured the mood in five words:
"Despicable, I love it,"
Images credited to the Seahawks’ account on X showed the pack in full sprint and Banana out front. The club treated the winner like a real champion, title, trophy, and all.
The Seahawks handled business against the Chargers in a 30-23 final. Halftime belonged to the corgis.
No owners were named. The other two dogs went unidentified in the coverage. The venue itself was not spelled out beyond the field markings and the Seattle home context. What landed was the picture: a low-slung champion, a big trophy, and a stadium full of people happy to watch dogs run.
NFL Sundays already carry enough noise. This bit needed none of it. A short race, a clear winner, and a look-back that wrote its own caption.
Banana got the hardware. Seattle got the win. Fans got the laugh.
When the league’s best viral moment is a corgi with a trophy, the afternoon is doing something right.
