Charlotte D’Alessio said she is “very” angry about Presley Gerber’s death at a rehab facility, as Santa Monica police probe a suspected overdose with no foul play found.
Presley Gerber, the 27-year-old son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, died at a rehab facility on September 20, according to medical records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. The official cause was not disclosed.
Santa Monica police were called to the facility around 9:35 a.m. Sunday. Officers found him dead at the scene. Detectives are treating the case as a suspected overdose.
“SMPD detectives are investigating the death as a suspected overdose,” police said. “At this time, there is no indication of foul play.” Investigators gave that account in a statement to The Independent.
Gerber’s former girlfriend, model and influencer Charlotte D’Alessio, 28, shared photos of the pair and a short video of him running along the water with a dog. She did not hide her anger.
On Instagram she wrote:
"Shared a pure love with you & for that I thank & honor your life. You deserved more time. You deserved more life. Very angry ab this. Love you Pres. always. Up there, down here. don’t ever doubt that. We all love you so much. I hope you can feel it."
Under the video she added: “I will always remember you this way.”
Gerber signed with IMG Models at 15 and worked for Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, and Bottega Veneta. He spoke often about substance abuse and depression.
In March he posted a video of himself receiving a “pre Ibogaine Flood Dose” in Cancun, Mexico. Ibogaine is illegal in the United States and remains unlicensed in the United Kingdom. It can be administered lawfully in Mexico.
Dr. Drew Pinsky later flagged a problem in that approach. Speaking to Fox News, he said patient-directed care raises red flags.
"When I listened to [Gerber's] video, what struck me and concerned me was that the patient seemed to be determining some of the care. That's never good."
Pinsky also warned that opioid addiction is progressive and often deadly, and that the stretch in or right after rehab can be especially dangerous because tolerance drops and a usual dose can kill. Toxicology results in Gerber’s case remain pending. A 911 call reportedly cited suspected overdose and cardiac arrest.
Families keep burying young people who cycle through recovery programs while experimental treatments and soft standards leave the real risks unaddressed. Anger from those left behind is the least of it.
