Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer have reached a divorce agreement and submitted their proposed judgment to a New York court, closing a chapter that began with split rumors, a 50-pound weight loss, and seven years of marriage.
The couple filed their proposed divorce judgment with the New York Supreme Court on Thursday, and a judge has already signed it, Page Six exclusively confirmed. The signed judgment now awaits final processing by the County Clerk, according to the court docket. The court also processed orders concerning support for the pair's 7-year-old son, Gene.
Neither representatives nor lawyers for Schumer, 45, or Fischer, 46, responded to requests for comment. The specific financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
The agreement lands roughly eight months after Schumer officially filed for divorce in January. She and Fischer, a chef and James Beard Award winner, had secretly married in 2018 and welcomed Gene about a year later.
Split rumors had swirled for months before Schumer confirmed the breakup. In early December 2025, she addressed speculation on Instagram after she was spotted without her wedding ring. She said she rarely wears jewelry and pushed back on the idea that her dramatic weight loss had anything to do with marital trouble.
Schumer had lost 50 pounds, not 30, as some reports claimed, after battling Cushing syndrome, a hormonal disorder that can be life-threatening. She also disclosed that she uses the weight-loss drug Mounjaro, the New York Post reported at the time.
In that same post, Schumer struck a hopeful tone about the marriage:
"Whatever ends up happening with Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism... fingers crossed we can make it through... he's the best."
It did not work out. Less than two weeks later, on December 13, Schumer posted a photo of the two of them together on a subway train and made the split official.
"Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son."
She asked for privacy. In a separate social media post, the comedian, known for her starring role in *Trainwreck*, addressed the weight-loss angle head-on, writing that the breakup was "not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag a basket and not because he's a hot" James Beard Award-winning chef. She called the split "amicable and all love and respect" and added: "Family forever."
One detail from the marriage's history stands out in hindsight. In 2021, Fischer gave Schumer a birthday cake for her 40th that read: "I'm leaving you. This was the only way I could think to do it." At the time, it was unclear whether the message was a joke. Four years later, the couple actually split.
Celebrity friends rallied around Schumer after the December announcement. Sophia Bush wrote that divorce is "so d*** hard without having it be hard for the world to see," adding, "when the world sees I'll just say be extra gentle with yourself. All love." Jewel and Sharon Stone also offered public support, Breitbart noted.
The reason for the split was never made public. Schumer denied it had anything to do with her weight loss or with Fischer's autism, a diagnosis she had discussed openly during their marriage.
With the judgment signed by a New York Supreme Court judge and awaiting only the County Clerk's final processing, the legal dissolution is effectively complete. The support orders for Gene have already been handled by the court, though their terms remain sealed.
The whole process, from filing in January to a signed agreement eight months later, moved at a pace that suggests the "amicable" framing was not just public relations. When both sides agree on terms without a courtroom fight, the taxpayers and the courts are better for it.
Whatever else you think of celebrity breakups, a quiet resolution that keeps a child out of a public custody spectacle is the kind of outcome more people should aim for.
