Photos captured by The Mega Agency show Robbie standing knee-deep in the ocean, walking along the shore, reading a script between takes, and filming scenes in the sand with Cooper, who is writing and directing the film. The setting fits the story: the prequel centers on Danny Ocean's parents pulling off a heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix, well before the character made his name in Las Vegas.
Robbie laid out the premise at CinemaCon in July, as Fox News Digital reported:
"Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows, his parents. You'll see them in their prime, and, in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix."
Cooper isn't just in front of the camera. He wrote the script and is directing, a dual role that has become his pattern after stepping behind the lens in recent years. Robbie and her husband, Tom Ackerley, are producing through their company LuckyChap Entertainment, the same banner behind the blockbuster "Barbie."
The ensemble around Robbie and Cooper includes Academy Award-nominated actors Wagner Moura and Monica Barbaro, along with Josh Gad. Specific roles for the supporting cast have not been disclosed. The original 2001 "Ocean's Eleven" starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Julia Roberts, so the franchise carries heavyweight expectations.
Robbie herself has been one of Hollywood's most bankable names since her breakout opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in 2013's "The Wolf of Wall Street." She got her start on the long-running Australian television show "Neighbors" before making the jump to American film.
