Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman told British Vogue she is "embracing love" and moving forward after finalizing her divorce from Keith Urban in January, even as she has yet to confirm rumors linking her to a private equity investor.

Kidman, 59, sat for an interview published Thursday in British Vogue in which she reflected on the end of her nearly two-decade marriage, the fear and vulnerability that followed, and a deliberate choice to remain open to whatever comes next. The interview arrives weeks after she was spotted with Michael Reinstein, a private equity investor, during a getaway in Italy, a sighting that set off a fresh round of dating speculation the actress has so far declined to address.

The actress and Urban, 58, separated last year and finalized their divorce in January. They share two daughters: Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15. Page Six reported that Kidman has not confirmed any new romantic relationship, but her British Vogue remarks left little doubt she is looking ahead rather than back.

In the interview, Kidman described the gap between the life she planned and the one she now leads:

"You make all these plans and you have all these ideas of what it's all going to be like and then it's... not. You have to adjust. You adapt."

She added bluntly: "but this is what it is now." The remark followed her acknowledgment that she "didn't expect" her life to take the turn it has.

Kidman credits mentors with steadying her through 'deeply vulnerable' stretch

The British Vogue interview painted a picture of a woman who spent months wrestling with fear before settling on forward motion. Kidman described the emotional low point plainly:

"There was a point where I was very fearful and deeply vulnerable, which is exposing."

She said she leaned on "incredible mentors" during the transition, unnamed figures who offered her blunt counsel. Kidman has spoken before about moving forward with an open heart, and her latest remarks followed the same thread.

Relaying their advice, she said they told her: "Nicole, you just got to take it on the chin." She said she internalized that message and shifted her outlook:

"Once you accept that, instead of going, 'Well that's not fair or it's unjust,' you go, 'Well, yes, actually it isn't fair. Because things are not fair.'"

Kidman framed the choice she faced in stark terms: "Well, I can either really not confront it and just curl up, or I can just go forward with an enormous amount of hope."

'I lead with my heart', Kidman on the instinct that 'throws people'

Kidman told the magazine she operates on instinct rather than calculation, a trait she said catches people off guard. She described herself as feelings-centered and said she avoids overthinking:

"I lead with my heart. I just go, 'OK, what do I feel here? I'll give it a go.' It throws people, because I think they think I'll be far more measured and I'm not."

She also expressed a broader philosophy about resilience and public exposure, saying she has made peace with the possibility of missteps playing out in the open. "I know my character. I know my talent. I know who I am," she said. "If I make a mistake and it doesn't connect, or something goes wrong in my life where it's humiliating, it's OK. Other people have had that and that's OK. Take the onus off it."

The actress, who is set to appear in "Practical Magic 2" and "Big Little Lies", said she has "always wanted to live a well-examined life." She described what that means in practice: "Trying things, making mistakes, failing, getting back up, moving on, embracing love, staying open, keeping the heart open and the possibilities."

That last phrase, "embracing love", landed differently given the timing. Last month, Kidman and Reinstein were seen together during the Italian trip, and she has offered no public comment on the nature of their relationship. Reports have suggested Urban himself was relieved that Kidman had found companionship after the split.

Urban's post-divorce chapter has drawn its own headlines

Kidman is not the only half of the former couple generating tabloid attention. Urban, 58, has been linked to country singer Karley Scott Collins, 26, though Collins has denied any romantic involvement. The denial was referenced in Page Six coverage but Collins was not quoted directly in the interview.

Urban has reportedly had his own adjustment to the public nature of the post-divorce period. The couple's separation after nearly twenty years together, and the speed with which both have been linked to new names, has kept the story in the celebrity press cycle for months.

Kidman addressed the uncertainty of her future directly in the Vogue interview: "The future, it's completely unknown to me right now." She called the sensation "strange" but did not frame it as unwelcome.

The actress has a long history of public reflection on her personal life. She once said she would have given up her career to marry Tom Cruise at 23, a remark that revealed how central relationships have always been to her sense of self. Now, at 59, she appears to be applying the same emotional directness to a chapter she did not choose.

Her first public acknowledgment of Urban since the divorce came in a Father's Day post, a measured gesture that suggested the two are navigating co-parenthood of their daughters without public hostility.

Whether Kidman's talk of "embracing love" points to Reinstein, to someone else, or simply to a mindset, she is not saying. What she is saying, clearly and on the record, is that she refuses to curl up. In a culture that treats celebrity divorce as spectacle, that counts for something.
