Bella Poarch exits The Voice Celebrity mid-season, leaving NBC producers scrambling

TikTok star Bella Poarch dropped out of NBC's first-ever celebrity edition of The Voice after completing the Blind Auditions but before the Battle Rounds, and no one has explained why.

Poarch, 29, had already advanced through the Blind Auditions for Season 31 when she abruptly left the competition just days before the Battle Rounds were set to begin. An unnamed insider told The U.S. Sun that the departure forced producers to reshuffle team compositions mid-production, throwing the show's schedule into disarray.

The reason for her exit remains unknown. The U.S. Sun reported that "it's unclear exactly why Bella chose to step away," and Poarch herself has not commented publicly.

NBC's celebrity gamble hits an early snag

Season 31 marks a first for the long-running NBC singing competition: an all-celebrity cast. The network replaced longtime host Carson Daly with Keke Palmer for the special edition, a move that signaled how seriously NBC was treating the format change.

Losing a contestant between rounds is unusual for any season of The Voice. Losing one during what the network is billing as its biggest format overhaul adds a layer of production headaches that go beyond a simple roster swap. Teams had to be rebalanced before the Battle Rounds could proceed.

The insider who spoke to The U.S. Sun described it plainly:

"Bella Poarch was originally tapped to be on The Voice Celebrity. She made it through the Blind Audition. But just a few days before the Battle Rounds began, she had to drop out."

That source was not identified by name or role, so the account remains unverified beyond the single insider claim.

From viral lip-sync to Warner Records deal

Poarch became a global name in 2020 after posting a lip-sync video to Millie B's "Soph Aspin Send" on TikTok. The clip became one of the most-liked videos in the platform's history and launched her into mainstream visibility almost overnight.

By 2021 she had signed with Warner Records and released her debut single, "Build a B***h," which racked up hundreds of millions of streams. She went on to release additional singles, collaborate with major artists, and perform internationally. Her following spans TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.

A spot on The Voice Celebrity would have been a logical next step for someone looking to be taken seriously as a recording artist rather than a social-media personality. Walking away from that platform, with no public explanation, raises more questions than it answers.

Production expected to wrap late 2026, with a 2027 air date

Season 31 is still in production and is expected to air on NBC in early 2027. Whether Poarch's departure will be addressed on-screen or simply edited around remains to be seen. NBC has not commented on the matter.

No information has surfaced about which coach's team Poarch had joined, whether anyone replaced her, or how many contestants remain on each roster. Those gaps leave viewers and the press guessing until the show reaches air.

When a network bets big on a new format and a high-profile contestant walks out the door without a word, the silence itself becomes the story, and silence, in entertainment as in politics, rarely ages well.
