Fresh off a £500,000 wedding celebration at a five-star Surrey estate, Zendaya and Tom Holland say they intend to step back from acting and settle into married life in England.

The couple hosted roughly 250 guests, including Robert Downey Jr., Timothée Chalamet, and Kylie Jenner, for a three-day affair at the Beaverbrook Hotel, a 370-acre estate near Leatherhead, Surrey. The venue, once owned by the late newspaper proprietor Lord Beaverbrook and historically a retreat for figures like Winston Churchill, features 56 rooms and suites, an on-site Japanese restaurant, and what the hotel describes as hot-air-balloon-styled dining tables. Guests enjoyed champagne, croquet, Japanese food, and a pool party, with the property lit up in red and blue lights.

Tom Holland's brother Sam, a 27-year-old chef, served as best man. A rehearsal dinner the night before preceded the main event, which the Daily Mail reported capped off a major professional year for both actors. The celebration followed an earlier, quieter ceremony whose date and location have not been publicly disclosed.

Holland says fatherhood will end his film career

Holland has been blunt about his priorities. In an interview with Men's Health, the Spider-Man star laid out his plan in plain terms:

"When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore. Golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth."

He confirmed the couple's marital status during a recent press tour, casually referring to Zendaya as his "wife." On Late Night with Seth Meyers, the host joked about their shared ground, both spending too much time watching Spider-Man content. Holland's reply was simple: "Yeah, well my wife is in the film so [that helps]."

Zendaya has echoed the same instinct, though with more visible anxiety about the tradeoffs of fame. She told Entertainment Tonight at the Spider-Man premiere that she planned to step back:

"Just mind my business, you know. And stay true to myself. I think sometimes it's such a whirlwind and you're kind of like in a new place every second, and your brain is kind of all over the place, and it's fun and I'm grateful and I wouldn't change a thing but sometimes you need to just disappear for a little bit."

In a 2024 interview with British Vogue, Zendaya went further, expressing concern about raising children under the weight of celebrity.

"I don't necessarily want my kids to have to deal with this."

She described wanting to "make things and pop out when I need to pop out, and then have a safe and protected life with my family." She added a candid admission about the pressure she feels to stay visible: "I think that's always been a massive anxiety of mine: this idea that people will just be like, 'Actually, I know I've been with you since you were 14, but I'm over you now because you're boring.'"

A $65 million fortune built from a $250,000 first paycheck

The couple can afford to walk away, at least financially. Their combined net worth sits at an estimated $65 million. Zendaya's share accounts for roughly $40 million, while Holland stands to earn between $20 million and $25 million from the latest Spider-Man installment, Brand New Day. That is a long way from the $250,000 he earned for his first turn in the role back in 2016.

Zendaya's recent run, spanning The Drama, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has generated nearly $2 billion in worldwide box office. Forbes reportedly ranked her atop this year's global box office standings.

The couple's home base reflects the shift toward England. Holland bought a house in Richmond, in south-west London, for £2.5 million in 2018, near his family in Kingston upon Thames. Zendaya moved in during 2023. The six-bedroom, three-storey property, now valued at roughly £3.5 million, includes a home cinema and gym. Zendaya also holds properties in southern California, the Hollywood Hills, and Brooklyn.

Wedding guests saw "not a dry eye in the house"

An anonymous guest described the ceremony to The Sun in warm terms:

"The ceremony was so beautiful and romantic. Tom and Zendaya aced their speeches as well, they were both very funny but also very emotional. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. They're incredibly hard-working and lovely people, and this stunning wedding has capped off an amazing year for them."

The couple first met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016. Zendaya told MTV that Holland was "obviously, my best friend," adding that working alongside him was "a privilege." Holland, speaking to Entertainment Tonight, returned the sentiment: "I think Zendaya always just brings me an unbelievable sense of calm. Even in the midst of all of this craziness and traveling the world and making these movies and sometimes being really overwhelmed, because that's what happens when you're a human being... No one calms me down better than she does."

Zendaya still has Dune: Part Three on the horizon later this year. After that, the couple says the plan is to disappear, at least for a while.

Two young people who earned a fortune in an industry that chews up families now say they want to put marriage and children first. In Hollywood, that counts as countercultural, and it is worth applauding.
