Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are reportedly preparing a multi-day wedding celebration at Madison Square Garden over the July Fourth weekend, and the list of people who won't be there may say as much about the pop star's career as the ceremony itself. The U.S. Sun identified roughly ten individuals allegedly excluded from the festivities, each tied to a chapter of public conflict with Swift or Kelce stretching back more than fifteen years.

The reported event is shaping up as a massive production. The New York Times, as cited by Breitbart, reported that the couple planned a gathering of 100 people at MSG on July 2 and a second event for about 1,000 guests on July 3. Public records show New York City issued a permit for loading and unloading theatrical materials at the arena from June 29 to July 4, and a production company applied for a separate permit covering an event of up to 999 people outside the venue.

Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed the wedding. But the clues keep piling up.

City Hall and the NYPD weigh in

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani referenced the wedding during a press conference, saying, "We know it coincides with July Fourth, America 250, Taylor Swift's wedding all happening at the same time, and we are so excited to welcome the world here." That's not exactly a denial. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch was more guarded but no less telling, as AP News reported:

"I would be remiss not to mention an event that we are tracking at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. The NYPD will, of course, have a detail in place, but I am not going to go into more specifics on that at this time."

MSG's lack of windows and underground parking reportedly make it an attractive option for a couple seeking to control access and avoid the paparazzi. Newsmax noted that the arena has no scheduled events from June 29 through July 6, leaving a clear window for the celebration.

Reports indicate Swift has requested black-tie attire for guests, with some women reportedly planning to wear full gowns, according to Fox News. The venue itself has reportedly been transformed into something resembling a castle for the occasion.

Travis Kelce's brother Jason will reportedly have a special role in the ceremony. Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid are described as bridesmaids. The Haim sisters, Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, and Zoë Kravitz are among those expected to attend. Swift herself joked in October that "anyone I've ever talked to" would be invited, telling Graham Norton she believed "the only stressful weddings" are those that are small and force aggressive cuts to the guest list.

But roughly ten names appear to have been cut, and the reasons trace a long arc of public grudges, legal entanglements, and music-industry power plays.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds: a friendship undone

Perhaps the most notable exclusion is Blake Lively, once one of Swift's closest friends. The Gossip Girl alum and her husband Ryan Reynolds are reportedly not attending. The U.S. Sun described the rift as stemming from Lively's public legal battle with Justin Baldoni, her co-star and director on *It Ends with Us*. Private text exchanges between Lively and Swift were leaked to the media during the dispute, and Baldoni's legal team subpoenaed Swift, pulling her directly into the proceedings.

The U.S. Sun exclusively reported that Swift has not attempted to reach out to Lively. The distance between the two women appears to have widened quietly, without a single public statement from either side. The silence between Swift and Lively has become its own story as wedding preparations have accelerated.

Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and the feud that defined an era

The longest-running conflict on the list dates to 2009, when Kanye West interrupted Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards, declaring that Beyoncé had "one of the best videos of all time." The incident launched a rivalry that would define both artists for years.

In 2016, West released *Famous*, rapping that he "made that b**** famous." Kim Kardashian, then married to West, defended him in an interview and leaked edited clips of a secretly recorded phone call between West and Swift. The fallout was enormous. Swift retreated from public life before releasing her comeback album *Reputation*, which included the diss tracks *Look What You Made Me Do* and *This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things*.

Years later, Swift released *The Tortured Poets Department* in 2024, featuring a track called *thanK you aIMee*, the capitalized letters spelling out "KIM." Kardashian and West, who parted ways in 2021, are both reportedly excluded from the guest list.

Scooter Braun and the $330 million masters fight

Music manager Scooter Braun's exclusion may be the least surprising name on the list. In 2019, Braun, the longtime manager of both Kanye West and Justin Bieber, purchased Big Machine Label Group for $330 million, acquiring the master recordings of Swift's first six studio albums in the process. Swift responded with a public letter calling Braun "an incessant, manipulative bully" and accusing him of encouraging public bullying during her 2016 feud with West.

Braun later sold Swift's masters to a private equity firm, reportedly earning between $300 million and $405 million on the deal. Swift re-recorded all six albums, and in May 2025, she purchased the original masters back from the private equity firm for an undisclosed price. The fight over those recordings reshaped how the music industry thinks about artist ownership, but it left no room for a wedding invitation.

Swift has also been reported to be planning multiple outfit changes for the celebration, a detail that fits the scale of a production involving roughly a thousand guests.

The exes: Calvin Harris and John Mayer

Two of Swift's former boyfriends also appear on the excluded list. Calvin Harris and Swift collaborated on the 2016 hit *This Is What You Came For*, featuring Rihanna, with Swift using the pseudonym "Nils Sjöberg" to conceal her involvement. When Swift's team later revealed her role, Harris posted what the U.S. Sun described as "a scathing Twitter rant."

John Mayer's exclusion traces to Swift's 2010 track *Dear John*, widely understood to be about their relationship. Mayer responded in 2013 with *Paper Doll*, which included a direct nod to the dress Swift sang about in her song. Neither man appears to have patched things up.

Kayla Nicole, Travis Kelce's ex

On the groom's side, the most notable absence is Kayla Nicole, who dated Kelce for five years before they split in 2022. Kelce began dating Swift roughly a year later. Nicole claimed she received abuse from die-hard "Swifties" online and appeared on *Special Forces: World's Toughest Test* in 2024, where she broke down about the split.

"I wanted to disappear from the world entirely."

Nicole's account is a reminder that the collateral damage of celebrity culture doesn't always land on the famous. The couple has also reportedly told guests that no gifts are allowed, a detail that suggests the couple wants to keep the focus on the event itself.

Charli XCX and Justin Bieber round out the list

Charli XCX, once described as a friend of Swift's, released *Sympathy is a Knife* in 2024. Fans believed the track was aimed at Swift and her ex-boyfriend Matt Healy. Charli insisted the song wasn't about Swift, but Swift reportedly responded with *Actually Romantic*, which referenced Charli's alleged trash-talking. The friendship appears finished.

Justin Bieber's place on the list ties back to his long association with Scooter Braun. Swift reportedly viewed Bieber as being "in cahoots" with his manager. Bieber's engagement to Hailey Bieber in July 2018, just two months after his split from Swift's close friend Selena Gomez, added another layer to the tension.

What the guest list really tells us

Chiefs coach Andy Reid, asked whether he'd attend the wedding, offered a telling answer: "If it's like when I got married, my wife did everything, so I just kind of followed her lead on it, showed up, right?"

That may be the most honest assessment of how this wedding, and its guest list, came together. Swift has spent more than a decade turning personal conflicts into chart-topping records. The feuds with West, Kardashian, Braun, Harris, and Mayer all became albums, singles, or public statements. Each exclusion from the guest list reads like a chapter heading in the Swift discography.

A wedding for a thousand people at Madison Square Garden, with black-tie dress codes and NYPD security details, is not a private affair. It's a production. And productions have casting decisions.

In the end, the guest list is just another version of the same skill Swift has always had: knowing exactly who belongs in the story she's telling, and who doesn't.
