Two individuals accused of scheming to unleash chaos on New Year’s Eve by targeting Southern California businesses with bombs have just pleaded not guilty, as Courthouse News Service reports.

Audrey Carroll, 30, and Zachary Page, 32, entered their pleas on Monday in a Los Angeles federal court, facing allegations of a chilling plot to detonate explosives as part of an anti-capitalist, anti-government crusade.

For hardworking taxpayers in Southern California, this case hits close to home, as the potential economic fallout from such an attack could have shuttered businesses, cost jobs, and burdened local communities with millions in recovery and security expenses. This isn’t just about ideology; it’s about the real financial and legal risks to everyday Americans who rely on stability to pay their bills. From a conservative standpoint, no stone should be left unturned in pursuing justice for such reckless endangerment.

Uncovering a Dangerous New Year’s Plot

The story began to unfold last month when Carroll and Page, along with two others, were apprehended in the Mojave Desert while allegedly piecing together explosive devices.

Federal prosecutors tie the duo to the Turtle Island Liberation Front, a group pushing radical ideas of “decolonization” and anti-capitalist resistance that seem far removed from the values most Americans hold dear. While everyone’s entitled to their views, plotting violence crosses a line that demands accountability.

Back in late November, Carroll reportedly handed Page and an FBI informant an 8-page manifesto dubbed “Operation Midnight Sun,” outlining a sinister plan to strike multiple locations in the greater LA area at midnight on New Year’s Eve. The scheme targeted at least two major U.S. companies with bombs hidden in backpacks, aiming for simultaneous devastation.

Inside the Radical Group’s Plans

Using a Signal messaging group named “Order of the Black Lotus,” described as a hardline faction within their organization, Carroll and her associates allegedly hashed out the details of their violent intentions. It’s unsettling to see technology, meant to connect us, twisted into a tool for destruction.

The group even planned to test their explosives on Dec. 12 in the Mojave Desert, a step that thankfully never came to fruition due to law enforcement’s intervention. When discussions turned to action, an undercover FBI agent and the informant joined the suspects at a remote campsite where bomb-making materials like PVC pipes, potassium nitrate, and sulfur powder were assembled.

Before the group could ignite anything, the undercover agent tipped off authorities, leading to the swift arrest of all four individuals in the desert. This kind of proactive policing is exactly what conservatives champion—stopping threats before they harm innocent lives.

Facing Severe Charges and Consequences

Carroll and Page now face serious charges, including conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction and providing material support to terrorists, alongside possession of unregistered firearms. If convicted on all counts, they’re staring down life sentences in federal prison.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli didn’t mince words, stating, “If convicted, this group of self-professed left-wing radicals will face decades in federal prison.” While some might cry “overreach,” conservatives see this as a necessary stance—justice must be blind to ideology when public safety is at stake.

Essayli also added, “We will continue to investigate and bring them to justice.” That’s a promise every law-abiding citizen should appreciate, though one wonders if the progressive crowd will spin this as persecution rather than protection.

Court Dates and Public Safety Focus

The arraignment took place before a U.S. magistrate judge in downtown Los Angeles, marking the start of a legal battle that will keep eyes glued to the courtroom. Their trial is tentatively set for Feb. 17, giving prosecutors time to build an airtight case.

For now, Southern Californians can breathe a sigh of relief that this alleged plot was thwarted before it could disrupt lives and livelihoods. Yet, from a conservative lens, this incident is a stark reminder that radical agendas—whether left or right—must be met with vigilance, not excuses.

Let’s hope the judicial system sends a clear message: no matter your cause, violence against fellow Americans will never be tolerated. While empathy for personal struggles is important, accountability for actions that threaten society must remain non-negotiable.
