Nationwide recall of joint pain capsules announced due to lead contamination

Another health product has bitten the dust, and this time it’s laced with lead.

Handelnine Global Limited, operating under the name Navafresh, has pulled two lots of its Rheumacare joint pain capsules off the market nationwide after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration flagged dangerous levels of lead in the product, as The Hill reports.

The FDA issued a warning letter to Handelnine back in November, pointing out that several of the company’s offerings, including Rheumacare, were considered “unapproved new drugs” with serious safety issues. That alone should’ve raised eyebrows among consumers looking for a quick fix for aching joints. But apparently, it took more testing to uncover the real poison in the bottle.

FDA Testing Uncovers Dangerous Lead Levels

Fast forward to Monday, when the FDA announced the recall after tests confirmed “higher than permissible levels” of lead in Rheumacare capsules.

The recall specifically targets lots CAM040 and CALO79-N, distributed across the country via the website www.navafresh.com. If you’ve got these capsules stashed in your medicine cabinet, it’s time to ditch them pronto.

Speaking of health risks, the FDA didn’t mince words about the dangers here. “Sustained exposure of elevated levels of lead poses increased potential toxicological risks to consumers to include cognitive impairment, depression, nausea and abdominal pain, motor incoordination, and peripheral neuropathy (loss of muscle control),” the agency warned.

Serious Health Risks for Unsuspecting Consumers

Now, let’s unpack that FDA statement -- because if lead can mess with your brain, gut, and muscles, it’s not just a bad day; it’s a potential life-altering disaster.

Adding insult to injury, Handelnine has already received at least one complaint tied to an adverse event with this product. That’s one too many, and who knows how many others are suffering in silence? This isn’t just a corporate misstep; it’s a wake-up call.

Back to the November warning -- part of the FDA’s concern was “because the presence of lead in the amounts identified by the FDA raises significant safety concerns.” There’s no sugarcoating it: when a federal agency calls out a product for being a safety risk, you don’t wait for the recall notice to act.

Consumers Urged to Dispose of Product

For those who bought Rheumacare, the FDA’s advice is crystal clear: toss it out immediately. Don’t even think about taking another dose, no matter how bad your knees are creaking. Safety trumps convenience every time.

If you’ve got questions or want to vent your frustration, Handelnine is offering a lifeline -- sort of. Reach out to them at +1 442-223-0999 or email [email protected], Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. GMT. Good luck getting a straight answer, though, from a company that missed the mark this badly.

This recall isn’t just about two bad lots of capsules -- it’s about a broader failure to prioritize consumer safety over profit. In an era where every progressive agenda seems to push “trust the science” until it’s inconvenient, incidents like this prove why skepticism of unchecked corporate claims is healthy. We deserve better than playing Russian roulette with our supplements.

Time for Accountability in the Supplement Industry

Handelnine’s stumble with Rheumacare should spark a bigger conversation about accountability in the supplement industry.

Consumers shouldn’t have to play detective to avoid poisoning themselves with a product meant to help. While some might cry “overregulation” at the FDA’s involvement, this is one case where government oversight seems painfully necessary.

So, check your shelves, spread the word, and stay sharp about what you’re putting in your body. If Handelnine thought they could sneak by with lead-laced capsules, they’ve got another thing coming -- because American consumers aren’t here to be guinea pigs.
