Paul Di'Anno, the voice behind the early music of legendary heavy metal band Iron Maiden, has died at the age of 66.

In an interview in 2022 with Metal Hammer, Di'Anno discussed his time with Iron Maiden and his departure, offering personal insights into his contributions and regrets. "I don’t blame them for getting rid of me. The band was [bassist Steve Harris’] baby, but I wish I’d been able to contribute more," he reflected.
Di'Anno further revealed that his ability to give his all to Iron Maiden dwindled over time, acknowledging the fairness of his departure from the band. "After a while that got me down. In the end, I couldn’t give 100 percent to Maiden anymore and it wasn’t fair to the band, the fans, or to myself," he admitted.
The former Iron Maiden singer had a busy schedule in 2023, performing numerous shows despite his health struggles. He had also planned further performances for 2024, signaling an end to his vibrant and storied music career with retirement on the horizon.
